What a Sunday!
Could 2009 be a zeitgeist year for New York professional football? Hint: the answer is a resounding yes. Let it be known that September 20, 2009 was a milestone day for both professional teams, but especially for the J-E-T-S. Let’s Bench it down.

- Rex Ryan’s Gang Green walked the walk, man handling the Tom Brady Patriots 16-9 in front of one of the most raucous crowds to ever fill Giants Stadium. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez was efficient, going 14-22 with 1 TD and no INTs, while Tom Brady continued to look shaky. The Pats signal caller and all around great guy was 23-47 for just 216 yards and no points. The real MVP was Rex Ryan’s 46 defense, which never gave Brady the time to get comfortable in the pocket nor allow the Pats to get a running game going. The Jets are 2-0 and now must prepare to host the dangerous (and winless) Tennessee Titans.

- Is there anything sweeter than seeing Jerry Jones pulled back face as the Cowgirls lose in the last second? Of course not, making last night’s Giants victory against the Girls all the more sweet. A banged up Giants defense was shaky all night, but held Tony Romo to field goals at key times, allowing Eli Manning to get the ball with 3:34 to play trailing by 2 points and only needing to get into FG range to win the game. Success! The Giants are now 2-0, with both wins coming within the division, and now sit alone atop the NFC East.
